Alexandra Elizabeth "Alex" Kingston, born 11 March 1963, is an English actress, She is most widely known for her roles as Dr. Elizabeth Corday on the NBC medical drama ER and as River Song in Doctor Who.
Alex was born in Epsom, Surrey. She is the eldest of three daughters of Anthony Kingston and Margarethe (Renneisen). Her sisters are Susie and Nicola. She married and divorced Ralph Fiennes (1993-1997) & is currently separated from Florian Haertel (1998-present)
She has a daughter, to Florian, named Salome Violetta Haertel (born 28 March 2001)
